Lindsay Wood Ceramics

Hello! My name is Lindsay Wood and I’m a Ceramic Artist living in Richmond, Virginia. In 2015 I took my first ceramics class at the Visual Arts Center and I’ve been getting my hands dirty ever since!
Starting with the potter’s wheel and making my way into handbuilding, I fell in love with the endless possibilities that clay offers. In the last five years I have been a student, studio monitor, studio intern and now I have been rewarded with the role of teaching. I also make and sell my own work at local events and occasionally online. Each piece is uniquely crafted using handbuilding methods, then painted and carved using the sgraffito technique. My wares are carved with imagery reflective of my inspirations, my joys, memories and nature.
I currently work at Hand/Thrown studio here in Richmond, VA where I teach handbuilding classes and workshops. I’ve also taught classes through local nonprofits Art 180 and Art on Wheels. Sharing my love of clay and art with the community brings so much purpose into my life. I believe that art has healing powers, and can touch people’s lives by reducing stress, boosting self-esteem, and encouraging self-expression. Thank you for following my clay journey.
